This is a lovely shiny brass Toasting Fork from the 1950s featuring a well known design featuring Widdecombe Fair.
Widdecombe Fair is a famous fair that takes place in Dartmoor every year. It was the subject of a folk song called Tom Pearce, featuring Uncle Tom Cobley and his friends. This brass fork features a group of people riding a horse to the fair with Widdecombe written above. Below Uncle Tom Cobleigh and All is inscribed.
The brass is shiny with some marks which adds to the beautiful aged look. There is a little cleaning residue and green patina ingrained in the lettering but this helps the writing stand out.
It measures 43cm in length (17 inches). It would look great on a wall, beam or around a fireplace.
