Here we have a lovely 1950s Posy Holder Brooch, perfect for using to wear a flower in a button hole at a wedding or other special occasion. It’s called “The Perfect” and has the Patent number 15234/09 for it’s very clever design.
Also referred to as a tussie mussie or nosegay, posy holders were invented to protect your clothes when adorning an outfit with a flower button hole. The flower is held in the top piece and slotted into the base. It clips onto a a lapel button hole.
It’s Silver Plated and comes in a gift bag. It would be a lovely present for someone to wear for a special occasion.
There is wear to the plate around the top of the holder and a couple of very small dents and a bit of tarnish to the base. It measures 8.6cm in length (3 3/8 inches).
