Here we have a beautiful Vintage Sterling Silver Fruit Knife from the 1930s. It comes in a gift bag and it would be a lovely present for a birthday or wedding anniversary.
It was made by John Yeomans Cowlishaw and it was hallmarked in Sheffield in 1930. The hallmarks and makers mark are on one side of the blade.
The blade is made of Sterling Silver. The handle is Mother of Pearl and has a pretty blank oval cartouche on one side. The Mother of Pearl is beautifully smooth with no cracks or chips.
The silver blade is shiny with light scratches and the odd faint tarnish mark. The very end of the tip is slightly bent and there’s one tiny kink to the cutting edge but neither is very noticeable.
It’s a medium sized fruit knife, measuring 11.1cm when fully open (4 1/4 inches). When closed it measures 6.8cm (2 5/8 inches).
