This is a lovely small plastic and brass case dating from the 1930s. It was originally made as a matchbook case, and it would be a great box to store small items in.
It comes in a lovely green gift bag and would be a great present.
The rectangular case is made of celluloid plastic that’s made to look like Mother of Pearl. This was very popular design in the 1930s. The hinge, clasp and edging are made of brass.
The celluloid has the odd scratch. The brass is worn and inside has blackened and oxidised a little at two places. The hinge and clasp work well and it would hold items in well.
It’s a lovely unique case and is a great example of vintage 1930s accessories. It measures 6.7cm by 4.8cm (2 1/2 inches by 1 7/8 inches). The depth is 1.4cm (1/2 inch).
