Vintage 1961 Sterling Silver Inkwell, Capstan Inkstand

Here we have a beautiful Vintage Solid Silver Inkwell from the 1960s. It comes in a gift bag and would be a very special present for someone who enjoys calligraphy or as desk decor in an office.

It was made by Sanders and Mackenzie and it was Hallmarked in Birmingham in 1961. The makers mark and Hallmarks are on the side of the inkwell near the base.

The inkwell is made of Sterling Silver and is capstan shaped. The hinge works well. The lid lifts to show a glass liner and a gilded interior to the lid.

It has a green felt base to protect surfaces its placed on. It's in good condition with the Silver shiny. It has the odd little bit of tarnish and a couple of small dints to the lid and the bottom edge of the inkwell.

It's filled and weighs 300g. It measures 11.5cm diameter (4 1/2 inches). The height is approximately 6.5cm (nearly 2 5/8 inches).
