Here we have a very pretty Vintage Sterling Silver Matchbox Case from the 1930s. It comes in a gift bag and would be a great present.
It was made by SJ Rose and Son and it was Hallmarked in London in 1933.
The case is made of Sterling Silver and it has shiny sides and a dragon motif on one side. The makers mark and Hallmarks are on one side. The Silver is shiny with light scratches and a number of tiny dints on one side.
Its a little too small to fit some standard matchboxes, but it would fit some makes of matches or promotional or handmade matchboxes. The exterior measurements are 4.5cm by 2.7cm (1 3/4 inches by just over 1 inch). The depth is 1.5cm (just over 1/2 inch).
