Beeches Vintage
This is a lovely vintage folding solid silver fruit knife hallmarked in the 1920s. It was designed to slice fruit such as apples and pears and is a great collector’s item. It comes in a gift bag and would be a lovely present for a birthday or anniversary.
The blade is made of Sterling Silver and the handle is beautifully smooth Mother of Pearl which shows all the lovely layers and textures Pearl has. It has a blank oval cartouche on one side and the blade folds neatly back into the handle.
It was made by William Morton and Sons and it was hallmarked in Sheffield in 1927. The makers mark and hallmarks are on one side of the blade.
The silver blade is shiny with quite a lot of scratches which can be seen in the photos. The blade is a little curved in a couple of places and the very tip is missing but this shouldn’t affect its use. The mother of pearl handle has two very tiny chips at the top edge but these are not very noticeable.
It measures 13.3cm in length when fully open and 7.8cm when the blade is folded away (5 1/4 inches when open and just over 3 inches when closed).
