This is a lovely Antique Silver Plated Sovereign Coin Case, made in between 1880 and 1910. These were very popular for storing gold sovereign coins in the Victorian and Edwardian eras.
The case is silver plated and has a spring button mechanism to open it. When the button is pressed the lid pops open to show a silver plated interior. Inside it has a spring coin holder with a toy sovereign coin in, as a display to show how it works.
Condition
It’s in good working condition. It has a lot of wear to the silver plate on the outside and the ring where it would attach to a chain is missing. The spring slightly slips when you take out the coin but it pushes back easily.
Size
It measures 3cm (1 1/4 inches) diameter and has a depth of 1.5cm (just under 5/8 inch).
It’s a lovely collectible and a gift bag can be bought separately to put it in https://beechesvintage.com/products/small-gift-bag
