Beeches Vintage
Here we have a beautiful pair of Antique Solid Silver Salts from the late 1700s. They would be a great way to serve condiments or salt and pepper at the dinner table.
The salts are a matching pair and both have a pretty lined design around the sides and four elegant feet. Inside are blue glass liners.
They come with two simply stunning matching Georgian condiment or salt spoons. The spoons have a very unusual design of lips on either side of the bowls to aid the pouring of salt. They are very unique in style and are incredibly special.
The salts were made by Thomas Daniell. One was Hallmarked in 1777 and the other in 1787. The maker’s marks and Hallmarks on the spoons are difficult to read but they are from the same Georgian era.
The silver is shiny with a little tarnish in places which helps to show the beautiful detailing. There is a chip to one of the glass liners which can be seen in the photos.
The total silver weight without glass liners is 111g.
Each salt measures 8cm by 6cm (3 1/8 inches by 2 1/2 inches). The height is 5cm (2 inches). The length of each spoon is 9.5cm (3 3/4 inches).
