Beeches Vintage
This is a lovely small antique black lacquered box from the early 1800s with a set of antique haberdashery pins inside. It comes in a lovely green gift bag and would be a very special present for someone who enjoys sewing and haberdashery.
The box is made of wood and coated in black lacquer. It has a hinge at the back and the lift lifts to show a paper with nearly 100 lillikin pins on it. Lillikin pins were very popular in the Victorian era for pinning clothing in place and for haberdashery; they only measure approximately 1.4cm in length (1/2 inch) so they are smaller than today’s sewing pins.
It would make a lovely box for storing pins and needles or other small items.
There’s a chip to the edge of the lid and some wear and scratches to the lacquer as you'd expect for an antique box.
It measures a maximum of 5.5cm length (2.1 inches) with a width of 3.3cm (1.4 inches). The depth is 2.2cm (0.9 inches).
