This is a very pretty Vintage Sterling Silver Jewellery Box from the 1920s, perfect for storing small items such as rings, earrings or pendant necklaces in. It would look beautiful on a dressing table. It comes in a gift bag and would be a great present.
The box is made of Sterling Silver and it has three elegant feet. The lid has a beautiful design to the lid with a shaped edge and engraved pattern featuring a blank circular cartouche in the centre. The lid lifts to show a blue velvet lined interior which is a bit worn in places and has a tiny glue mark on one side.
The maker’s marks are worn. It was Hallmarked in Birmingham in 1927 and it was originally for sale at J Bagshaw & Sons, a retailer in Liverpool.
The silver is shiny with some tarnish in places. There are a number of dents all the way around including two on the inside of the lid. The sides are a bit misshapen which can be seen when the box is turned upside down. The lid slightly pings up when closed so it's not completely flush with the base. This has all been taken into account when pricing.
It weighs 191g and has a 9cm diameter (3 1/2 inches). The height is 4.1cm (1 5/8 inches).
