Here we have a beautiful Antique Silver Jewellery Box from the early 1900s. It would be perfect for storing rings, earrings or other smaller jewellery items.
It comes in a gift bag and would be a great present.
It was made by Hemming and Walton and it was Hallmarked in Birmingham in 1918. The Hallmarks are on the base of the box.
The box is a larger size and has four elegant feet. It has shiny Silver sides and CHP elaborately engraved in the centre of the lid. The hinge works well and the lid lifts to show a blue material interior and a gilded inside of the lid.
The Silver is shiny with a little tarnish. The Silver on the lid has some scratches in places and a couple of tiny dints which arent really visible. The lid is a little wavy in shape instead of being flat so it doesnt sit completely flush with the base on one side. The material interior has wear with the blue rope edging detached in some places.
It is a beautiful box and would stand out very well on a dressing table or shelf.
It weighs 205g.
It measures 13.1cm by 7.9cm (5 1/8 inches by 3 1/8 inches). The height is 6cm (2 3/8 inches).
This item was beautiful, authentic and delivered extremely promptly. Catherine was a delight to deal with, and I was very honoured to be able to purchase a piece of her family history.
