Here we have a beautiful set of six Antique Sterling Silver Side Knives from the early 1900s, perfect to use for spreading butter, jam, cheeses or condiments for breakfast or afternoon tea. They come in their original presentation box and would be a great present.
This traditional butter knife set has beautifully designed with elegant Sterling Silver handles and silver plated blades.
It was made by George Howson of Harrison Brothers and Howson and it was hallmarked in Sheffield in 1919. The hallmarks and maker’s marks are on the handles.
The silver handles are shiny with a few tiny dents on them. One blade has quite a lot of scratches and marks to it. The box hinge is broken and there’s a crack across the top of it. The blue interior base isn’t attached to the inside of the box. This has been taken into account when pricing.
Each knife measures 17.3cm in length (just over 6 3/4 inches).
