This is a beautiful Antique Salt or Pepper Shaker from the early 1900s. It is a small size shaker, perfect for one or two people to use. It was probably used originally as a shaker for an invalid tray.
It comes in a gift bag and would be a lovely present.
It was made by E J Houlston and it was Hallmarked in Birmingham in 1912. The Hallmarks are on the rim of the shaker and on the lid.
The shaker has a pretty etched pattern to the sides, featuring leaves and a dotted arch design. The lid fits neatly on the base and is shaped to a point with holes in it.
The Silver is shiny. There is a lot of tarnish to the base and some around the edges which has caused a bit of deterioration to the Silver.
It weighs 8.3g and measures 5.2cm in height (just over 2 inches).
