This is an absolutely stunning Antique Sterling Silver Sugar Sifter Spoon from the early 1900s. It comes in a presentation box and would be a fantastic gift.
It was made by world famous Silversmiths Mappin & Webb and it was Hallmarked in Sheffield in 1901.
The spoon has a beautiful shape and a very pretty gilded bowl. The Hallmarks are on the back of the handle. The Silver is shiny with a tiny bit of tarnish in places. It is a very beautiful spoon that would be fantastic to use to sift icing sugar onto cakes or cocoa on to cappuccinos.
The clasp on the box is only attached at one end and is tarnished but still works and fastens it. Although it is the original presentation box and the lid shuts the spoon bowl slightly overlaps the sides when placed in the box as shown in one of the photos.
The spoon weighs 33.9g and measures 14.7cm in length (just under 5 3/4 inches).
