This is a beautiful Antique Sterling Silver Box from the late 1800s. It would be ideal for storing small items such as jewellery or cufflinks in.
It was made by Frederick Bradford Macrea for the Army & Navy Cooperative Society Ltd and it was Hallmarked in London in 1892. The Hallmarks are on the base and the lid of the box. Underneath the Hallmarks a very small 17719 has been scratched.
The box has shiny Sterling Silver all around the sides and on the lid. The hinge works well to show a fully lined Cedar Wood interior.
It’s a rare find to have a Silver box from the Victorian era, particularly in such good condition. There are stains to the wooden interior and a couple of very small, nearly imperceptible dents in the lid. It’s a lovely box and would be a great gift.
The total weight is 353g. It's a medium sized box measuring 13.9cm by 8.5cm (5 1/2 inches by 3 3/8 inches). The height is approximately 5cm (2 inches).
