Here we have an elegant Antique scallop-shaped Sterling Silver Dish from the 1920s. It’s beautifully crafted with flowing contours, making it ideal for use as a small serving dish, trinket holder or decorative item. It would be a fantastic addition to any silver collection or classic interior.
It comes in its original Harrods presentation box and would be a fantastic gift.
It was made by George Howson from Harrison Brothers and Howson, and it was hallmarked in Sheffield in 1925. The maker’s mark and hallmarks are on the inside of the shell bowl.
The Sterling Silver bowl has a scallop shell design with a handle at one end and three ball feet. It comes in its original grey Harrods of London presentation box which has a space for a butter knife. The original knife is missing but another one can be bought from our shop to put in the case.
The silver is shiny with some tarnish in the design and a couple of faint tarnish spots on the handle. The box has a little bit of staining to the exterior but the hinge and clasp work well.
It weighs 45g and measures 10.5cm by 8.5cm (just over 4 1/8 inches by 3 3/8 inches). The height is 2.5cm (1 inch).
