This is a beautifully made Antique Indian Sandalwood Card Case from the 1800s. It would make a great business or credit card holder. It comes in a lovely green gift bag and it would make a great present.
The exterior of the card box is covered in a Sadeli Mosaic pattern which was very popular in the 1800s. They were known as Anglo Indian boxes as many were made for the English residents living in India who eventually brought or sent them back to England.
The interior is wood and comfortably fits standard business cards.
It is in good condition for it’s age. There are a number of tiny bits of the mosaic missing, particularly on one side, water stains to the interior wood and a slight stain to the mosaic on one side.
It measures 9.9cm by 7.7cm (just under 4 inches by 3 inches). The depth is 1.5cm (0.6 inches).
