This is a beautiful Mother of Pearl Musical Powder Compact made by AGME of Switzerland in the 1950s. It’s in good working order and comes in a lovely presentation bag. It would be a great gift for someone to use as a mirror or powder compact. Its a lovely, unique collectors item.
The lid has pretty squares of Mother of Pearl and the base has a lined pattern. The lid opens to show a mirror, an inner lid to the powder section and the winding mechanism. The powder area holds an unused powder puff and screen.
Above the mirror AGME and Made in Switzerland are imprinted. The mirror has a good reflection with faint lines due to age. The Swiss musical mechanism works well and it has a start/stop pin to switch the music on and off. The music can be heard in the video.
Some of the gold tone to the sides and base of the case show a few scratches and wear as you'd expect from a vintage item. There is a small patch of deterioration to the gold tone around the mirror. The Mother of Pearl has been polished and is intact. Overall its in good condition and would make a great gift.
It measures 8.4cm by 6.3cm (3.25 inches by 2.4 inches) with a depth of 2cm (0.75 inches).
