This is a very pretty small Antique Solid Sterling Silver Jewellery or Rings Box from the early 1900s. It’s a smaller size jewellery box and it would be perfect for storing rings or earrings in.
It comes in a gift bag and it would be a fantastic and very special present.
It was made by James Ramsay of Dundee and it was hallmarked in Birmingham in 1909. The maker’s mark and hallmarks are on the base and the side of the lid. It has Rd 526809 and the number 3 on the base as well.
The rectangular box is made of shiny Sterling Silver and has a very pretty design to the lid. The hinged lid lifts to show an interior with a blue material lining in the base and a gold washed inner lid.
It’s in good condition with the silver shiny with just a little tarnish to help show the design. There’s a few tiny dents to the side and one on the lid. The lid closes fairly loosely on the base and isn’t completely flush when shut on one side. This can be seen in the photos.
The total weight is 69g. It measures 6.6cm by 5.3cm (2 5/8 inches by just over 2 inches). The height is 2cm (3/4 inch).
