Here we have a lovely and rare find! It’s an Antique Sterling Silver Sherry Decanter Label from the mid 1800s. It would be a fantastic label to hang around the neck of a sherry bottle or decanter.
It comes in a presentation gift box and would be a great present.
It was hallmarked in Birmingham in 1844. The maker’s marks are a little worn but are most likely to be TLP.
The label is beautifully ornate with grapes, foliage and a bearded man’s face very cleverly hidden in the lovely design. It has Sherry in the centre and the maker’s marks and hallmarks on the back and an elegant chain to hang it on.
Condition
The Sterling Silver is shiny with a bit of tarnish which helps to show the design well.
Size
It weighs 8g. It measures 4.8cm by 3.3cm (1 7/8 inches by 1 1/4 inch).
