This is a very pretty antique solid silver dessert spoon from the late 1700s. It would be perfect for using to eat or serve desserts.

It comes in a gift bag and would be a very special present for a birthday or anniversary.

It has a lovely design with a tapered handle and a motif featuring a hand holding some holly at the end. It’s a lovely shape with a slightly narrower deeper bowl and elegant handle.

It was hallmarked in Dublin in 1788 and was made by John Shiels. The hallmarks and maker’s mark on the back of the handle and are a little worn.

Condition

It’s in very good condition with the silver shiny with just a little tarnish and some light scratches.

Size

It weighs 25g and measures 17.1cm in length (6 3/4 inches).
