This is a lovely black lacquered Papier Mache box from the 1800s with a set of antique haberdashery pins inside. It comes in a lovely green gift bag and would be a great present.
The box was used to store pins. There are approximately 100 pins (five rows of 20 pins) on a sheet with the name Lilli at the top as the manufacturer. The pins are smaller than the ones used nowadays.
The box is coated in black lacquer. It has a hinge which works well. There is a chip to the edge of the lid and some wear and scratches to the lacquer as you'd expect for a used vintage box.
It would make a lovely box for storing pins and needles or other small items.
It measures a maximum of 5.5cm length (2.1 inches) with a width of 3.3cm (1.4 inches). The depth is 2.2cm (0.9 inches).
