Product Description

This is a beautiful Sterling Silver Box from the 1940s, perfect for storing small items. It comes in. Gift bag and would be a fantastic gift.

It was made by William Comyns and Sons and it was Hallmarked in London in 1944. The Hallmarks are on the side of the box on both the base and the lid.

The box has shiny Sterling Silver sides and a very pretty engineered pattern to the lid. In the centre of the lid it has a blank rectangular cartouche.

The hinge works well and the lid lifts to show a beautiful fully lined Cedar Wood interior. It also has a divider so the base can be split into two compartments.

It's in good condition with a little tarnish in the design on the lid which helps to show the detail. It has quite a few tiny dot dints to the side, a small dent to the back edge and a larger one on the front edge of the lid which can be seen in the photos. There's an ink stain to the wood inside.

It weighs 246g and measures 11cm by 8.9cm (4 1/2 inches by 3 1/2 inches). The height is 4.4cm (just over 1 1/2 inches).
