This is a very pretty large Victorian Sterling Silver Pill Box or Pill Case from the late 1800s. It would be ideal for storing small items of jewellery or vitamins in.
It comes in a lovely green cotton gift bag and would be a great present.
It’s made of Sterling Silver and has a beautiful embossed design all around the sides and lid. It’s round with a hinged lid which opens well and lifts to show a beautiful gilded interior. It has Springfield Cottage 18.07.08 elaborately engraved on the base.
It was made by Charles Harris and it was hallmarked in London in 1897.
The pill box has a lot of dents to the base, sides and one very small one on the lid. The silver is shiny and the hinge and clasp work well.
It weighs 18g measures 5cm diameter (2 inches). The height is 2.2cm (just under 1 inch).
