Vintage 1945 Large Sterling Silver Box
This is a lovely Vintage Sterling Silver Box from the 1940s. It would be perfect for storing small items in such as jewellery or cuff links.
It was made by Deakin & Francis and it was Hallmarked in Birmingham in 1945. The Hallmarks are on the side on both the lid and base.
The box has shiny Sterling Silver sides and a pretty engineered pattern on the lid. In the centre of the lid there’s a blank rectangular cartouche where initials could be engraved.
The hinge works very well. Inside is a beautifully lined Cedar Wood interior.
It’s in good condition. There is a bit of tarnish in places and a few tiny dints to the sides. There is one slightly larger dint on the right hand side of the lid near the front of the box. There is some staining to the wooden interior.
It’s a good sized box, weighing 543.8g.
It measures 18cm by 9.4cm (just over 7 inches by 3 5/8 inches). The depth is 5.6cm (just over 2 1/8 inches).
