Vintage 1922 Sterling Silver Inkwell, Capstan Inkstand
This is a beautiful Sterling Silver Capstan Inkwell made in the 1920s. It would be a great gift for someone who enjoys calligraphy.
It was made by s Blanckensee & Sons Ltd and it was Hallmarked in 1922. The Hallmarks are on the side on the inkwell and on the inside of the lid.
The inkwell is made of shiny Sterling Silver. On the lid it has an inscription the says it was presented to Miss Frost who worked at WKSL between 1935 and 1939. It was given to her for her marriage in 1940. This all adds to the character and history of the inkwell.
It has a metal liner inside to keep the ink in. The base is wood.
There is some tarnish in places and a few dints around the sides. There is a larger dent in the lid.
It’s quite a solid Inkwell. It’s total weight is 375g.
It measures 14.2cm in diameter (5 1/2 inches). The height is approx 7cm (2 3/4 inches).
