Antique Victorian Black Lacquer Box

This is a black lacquered papier mache or wooden box from the 1800s. It comes in a lovely presentation bag and would be a great gift.

It would make a great trinket box for storing small items or as an ornament. The lid has a interesting unique beige pattern to it. The sides and base of the box are black lacquered.

The hinge works well and the lid opens to show a lacquered interior. There are a few scuffs to the black lacquer on the lid. There is a very faint crack to the lacquer on the outside bottom edge which can be seen if you look very closely.

It measures 7.1cm by 4cm (2.75 inches by 1.5 inches) with a depth of 2cm (0.75 inches).
