This is a lovely collector’s item! It’s an Antique Silver Plated Bowl made by Mappin & Webb. It would be perfect for storing small items in.

It was owned by the London Chatham & Dover Railway Company (LCDR) and it has their logo and name on the sides. LCDR started in 1859 and closed in 1922. The bowl is stamped with Mappin & Webb Prince’s Plate which started in 1890, dating the bowl to between 1890 and 1922.

The bowl has shiny Silver Plate and a lovely simple rim design. The base features the Mappin and Webb logo, along with Triple Deposit Princes Plate, London and Sheffield. It has a gothic letter  which looks like an E.

There is a bit of wear in places to the Silver Plate, manly on the base. There are a number of dints and scratches which adds to the history of this lovely item.

The bowl measures 15.5cm diameter (6 1/8 inches). The depth is approx 3.2cm (1 1/4 inches).
