This is a beautiful Antique Sterling Silver Trinket Box from the 1800s. It would be ideal for keeping small items in.

It comes in a green gift bag and would be a fantastic present.

It was Hallmarked in Chester in 1899. It has the F for foreign mark which was used by Assay Offices between 1867 and 1904. It’s most likely German in origin and it has DM as the maker’s mark.

It has a very pretty embossed design to the lid and sides. The hinge works well and the lid lifts to show a lovely gilded interior.

The Hallmarks are on both the base and the rim of the lid.

The Sterling Silver is shiny with a little tarnish in places which helps show the pattern. It has light scratches which adds to the Antique look. There are a couple of tiny dints and the edges of the lid very slightly curve up next to the hinge. The interior has a few darker areas to the gilding.

It’s quite solid, weighing 62.5g.

It measures 7.4cm by 2.9cm (just under 3 inches by 1 1/8 inches). The depth is 2cm (7/8 inch).
