1940s Sterling Silver Mirror Compact, Powder Compact
This is a beautiful Vintage Sterling Silver Mirror Compact from the 1940s. It comes in a gift bag and would be a lovely present.
It was made by David Sutton & Sons and it was Hallmarked in London in 1947.
The compact is made of Sterling Silver and has a lovely engineered pattern all around it. The lid has a very pretty floral pattern.
The hinge works well and the clasp is gold coloured. The lid lifts to show a Gilded interior and a mirror. The Hallmarks are on the inside base.
There is a bit of tarnish on the outside which helps to show the design. There are also a few small scratches to the pattern. The mirror is misted in places and has a few marks but still gives a reflection.
To open the lid it is easier to tilt the case a bit so it would be best used with either solid powder or with a powder screen.
The total weight is 97.1g.
It measures 6.6cm by 6.6cm (2 5/8 inches by 2 5/8 inches). The depth is 0.8cm (just under 3/8 inch).
